Transitional Knitwear.

This weather is blowing my mind! It’s colder in the mornings and at night, but still mild and warm during the day.

As a result, I’ve been digging out my knitwear that works with skirts and denim, can be layered up, or is sleeveless so I can wear a lightweight jacket. Most of my knitwear is roll neck, I love this style. Great for the old ‘hair tuck’ and perfect for when you are having that kind of day where you just want to be cosy.

There are also some amazing options of roll necks on the high street. New Look seem to really be embracing the sleeveless roll neck knit trend this season, there are some great options on offer. I’ve also seen a gorgeous grey roll neck jumper which is on my Wish List.

I love the whole look of a chunky piece of knitwear over a dress or with culottes. That combination of a bit of bare skin but a covered top half is a look I often use. I also think the sleeveless trend is fantastic! A sleeveless piece of knitwear (roll neck, longline cardigan) look fab with the 60/70s flare as well as with our trustworthy skinnies.

So, this week I’m sharing some high street hits and some street style inspo. Get layering, think outside of the box and try to avoid lugging your winter coat around with you!

Are you ready for autumn?

By September 5, 2015 Fashion

In the fashion world, summer is officially over. This is hard to get our heads around when we keep getting glimpses of fine weather and our summer has been such a washout. But, you’ll find the high street has swept away their summer stock and made way for rich textures, luxe fabrics and long sleeves. Autumn 2015 is here and this season is already getting me excited!

I’ve recently come back from Spain and got a few key pieces from Zara over there. I’m now the proud owner of my first pair of high waisted flares! The weather here is grim so they’ve already been worn with tan heeled boots and a sleeveless polo neck – the 70s look is definitely a favourite for me! I’m throwing on my sleeveless longline jacket as my ‘in-between coat’, it’s a simple solution for this not hot, not cold weather we are having!

There are some great trends being diluted for the high street. Be on the look out for delicate, layered and structured knits, soft tailoring, flowing maxis, a-line skirts, wide legs, boho luxe, 60s chic and beautiful tan, grey, deep purple, red and black shades. Mixing luxurious fabrics is also a big trend this season, so dig out your faux furs, suedes, silks, satins and leathers. Throw your silk pleated skirt on with a chunky knit and you ready to rock!

I’m not usually one to direct to a certain store, but M&S have the autumn season down this year. I’ve already created a Wish List a mile long. They have a great selection of fine knitwear and have really embraced the boho luxe and 60’s trend. I advise you to go and explore and try on things you wouldn’t usually consider.

So here is my inspo for the early autumn season hopefully you can get your hands on a few key pieces now for the season transition, and update your wardrobe ready for this new season.

All white errthang.

By July 9, 2015 Blog, Fashion, Lifestyle

It’s been a while, like, a REALLY long time and my keyboard is dusty. I have so many inspiration boards stored; I’m looking forward to sharing them with you.

A great style blog to kick start with is; white. All white errthang!. I’m loving the white trend right now; I love white on white and white with neutrals. It’s the perfect summer combination, weather permitting of course.

There is a lot of colour in the shops right now, but, personally, I find white a very classic colour to wear. It softens the most masculine of styles and make them feel quite elegant. Draped, loose, silk and soft fabrics look great in white. You can afford to be casual but still look crisp in this tone, plus, it’s a wonderful tan complimenter! Looking in my wardrobe I have THREE white blazers all slightly different. I throw them over an outfit to instantly add a bit of glamour and style.

It doesn’t just stop at clothing though. I’m an early adapter of the white nail trend and love that. It a great update and introduction to the all white trend. And for me, it doesn’t stop there; white accessories are also a great summer update. I’ve got my eye on an amazing set of white stackable porcelain coral rings.

Here are some fab style inspo images for your wardrobe, home and accessories. Enjoy!

Happy Springtime Manicure @ Stripes, Worcester.

Hi all. So it been like FOREVER since we have posted or shared anything exciting. This doesn’t mean, that we have given up. It’s just that we have been really busy planning new projects and visiting fabulous independent retailers who we can work with on the blog.

Our Instagram feed is always updated as often as we can with inspirational images, outfits, things we love and things we have done. Please do follow us and keep in touch.

Anywhoo – a few weeks ago I was treated to an amazing manicure at Stripes in Worcester. I didn’t realise but they have a hidden gem of a beauty salon tucked at the back of the store. The set up of the whole ‘shop and pamper’ experience is ideal as it allows you to treat your wardrobe and yourself all at the same time!

I absolutely love Stripes, they stock so many amazing European and contemporary labels such as; AG Jeans, Inwear, By Malene Birger, YMC and Dante 6 . The product and brands they carry are sleek, stylish and ever so chic and the whole shopping experience is very relaxed. I was expecting BIG things from the beauty experience and I wasn’t disappointed.

The Living Room is where the manicures and pedicures happen and it’s decorated as though you could be sat in a salon of an old house. The fireplace, the decadent feature wall and lush sofa allow you to feel totally transported when you settle down for your treatment. The soft, grey winged back chair I sat on was so comfy that I honestly could have stayed there all afternoon. Oh and before I forget, whichever coffee or tea you drink (and there’s quite a selection!) is served in a delicate china tea cup and saucer. These little finishing touches are what make the experience so special.

There are loads of treatments on offer and I really enjoyed the Happy Springtime Manicure – with an OPI gel polish, Guerande salt scrub for exfoliating my hands and forearms and a soothing hot stone massage. The treatment costs £45.00 and £5 of that is donated to the Worcester Breast Unit.

It was so relaxing sitting there, chatting, sipping my coffee and gazing at the shoppers browsing the rails in Stripes. After lots of deliberating, I opted for a delicious soft grey for my OPI colour and it looked fab. My hands were so amazingly soft afterwards and my gel polish lasted well over two weeks and still looked great.

There are another two treatment rooms upstairs for massages and the full service menu can be viewed here.

It’s well worth a visit, but hurry as the Happy Springtime Manicure offer won’t last for much longer!

Fabulous fashionistas

By January 27, 2015 Blog, Fashion, Lifestyle

On my flight to Miami (more about that another time!) I watched this amazing documentary about 6 incredibly inspiring women who’s average age was 80. The documentary was entitled Fabulous Fashionistas.

It may come as a surprise to you but I battle with myself about this blog of ours. I’m not shallow and I don’t judge a person by how they dress and nor do I believe that designer clothes makes you stylish.
While most of people dress for an occasion I make each day an occasion. I use my wardrobe as a armoury for everyday life to give me what I need in attitude to do whatever  it is that I need to do that day.

And I think it’s my attitude to dressing that made me love this documentary so much. These women didn’t just dress for the sake of fashion, they each used their clothes to empower themselves. They had no intention of becoming invisible little old ladies in beige trench coats.  I found this truly inspiring as I dread getting old and being invisible.

Other things that stood out for me was that none of the women had had Botox. Four of the five exercised every day. Of the two that didn’t; one was over 90 and the other had problems with her feet. So pretty damn excusable!  They all still worked, one almost to death.

All but one of the women had sadly outlived the love of their live,  but as you saw their lives unfold you understood how their strong sense of style has enabled them to develop their singleton individuality.

I cannot recommend this documentary enough. It reminded me why I love clothes and fashion, and how us women always have and always will use clothes to dress up and be the person that we want to be

Here’s a clip:

Watch the full documentary if you can.

Sleepy Hobo

Just before Christmas I went to see my friend at La Maison De Sacs and found this beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs Tread Lightly Hobo bag siting in the back room.

I couldn’t leave the little Hobo there & offered her a home. I’m pleased to say she is settling in well and has turned out to be perfect bag for me.  Fitting perfectly into my life. See for yourself ….

Here she is on on my lap as we travel home together for the first time. She's looking a little nervous..

Look book V8: Denim for S/S15

By January 8, 2015 Fashion

So, here it is, our first look book of 2015 and we are focusing on denim, and we are loving all the denim which is starting to filter through for spring/summer.

I don’t know about you but I’m over the winter and am already thinking about warmer days and less layers! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to layer but I’m craving being able to just wear a shirt , jeans and a coat or jacket without the scarf, hat, jumper etc.

All the fashion publications are starting to drip through the trends and styles to watch out for this spring/ summer. I live in denim and love it when I have an excuse to wear even more and this next season definitely gives me a reason to do so! Designer such as Chloe and Victoria Beckham and high street favourites such as TopshopMango, ASOS and even M&S all boasted a vast array of blue, black, embellished and vintaged denim in the form of jackets, shirts, jumpsuits, skirts, accessories and jeans.

Ripped jeans are here to stay but gone are the knee slits. In their place are holes, like real, can’t sew them up holes and missing sections…high waisted and mom jeans are still popular too.

Here are a few street style and product shots that have led me to dig out my denim and wear it pride. Denim can be styled to suit you and that’s the beauty of it. There are never any out of date washes, cuts or fits as its a real individual taste.

Enjoy the images!

Decorating for Christmas

By December 7, 2014 Blog, Lifestyle

I LOVE Christmas, and I love decorating the house and for one month making it feel completely different. Today on Sunday I am decorating the house and instead of the traditional tree I’m going for a paired back look using sticks of berries, pussy willow & any good branches that I find at the park. They’ll be lots of fake snow, bubbles & fairy lights. My inspiration for this look is below. Once the house is done I’ll share some piccies on Instagram.

V7: Sequins & Sparkles

By December 5, 2014 Blog, Fashion

Its that time of year when we all start to feel Christmassy and look forward to a bevvy of Christmas parties. I have my first of many gatherings this weekend and have spent most of the last few weeks looking for a perfect fitting pair of silver sequin trousers. I had the whole outfit planned out in my head and absolutely loved the H&M offer but, on trying them on they just didn’t fit me that well. Tis’ the season for sparkle and outfits you wouldn’t wear any other time of the year so I really wanted to go for for it! After the trouser debarkle it was back to the drawing board and so V7: Sequins and Sparkles was born!

The high street is full of LBDs, jewel tones, textures and sequins. Now don’t get me wrong there can be such a thing as too much sparkle or at least the danger of looking like a Christmas tree fairy. For me, the best sparkly outfits are an even mix of masculine and feminine, the overtly sparkly with a chunky oversized knit, or a sequin skirt with thick black opaques. Even a simple bit of glittery accessories can maketh the the outfit.

Below are the looks we love, the combinations we covet and the styles we want to copy! Over the next few days we will compile a round up of the best of the high street. We love  slightly different, individual styling so our selections are all items which can be dressed up or down. We love H&M, Zara and there a few great buys at Marks and Spencer.

Lookbook V6: Cosy Layering

By November 14, 2014 Blog, Fashion
Cosy layering clothes

This last week it’s felt like winter is finally here. Which has meant that I’ve been doing what I love when it comes to dressing each day and layering clothes. I hate being to cold, or to warm for that matter, so layering is a must….. As is having a HUGE bag to throw jumpers, scarfs, shirts, hats, gloves into as I take them off!

I’m always looking for inspiration which is why I created this lookbook.
