So, Tasha and I were uber excited to be invited to a VIP preview of Culture Vulture at the Malmaison Birmingham. After all, what girl doesn’t like the chance to grab themselves a pre-loved designer bargain??
With us both coming from opposite sides of the Midlands (Leicester and Worcester) we met for a pre-event coffee at Starbucks in the entrance to the Malmaison. After a good natter and our morning caffeine hit we ventured upstairs to see what we could find.
To give a bit of insight, the Couture Vulture ladies; Jane and Sarah, have heaps of fashion industry experience (20 years). They’ve built up a list of clients who always seem to have wardrobes bursting of items they no longer wear. Couture Vulture was born from this, the need to make wardrobe space (for new outfits of course!) but by selling pre-loved outfits at one-off events at a fraction of the price.
Jane and Sarah hold pre-events where you are invited to bring along your items, they are priced up and on sale of the item you receive your monies back! Simple! And a lot more exclusive and hassle free than EBay!
Every few months one-off sales are held around the Midlands, a pop-up shop is created, the rails are stocked and you are invited to try and hopefully buy. At this event there were a couple of local business giving a showcase of their products. Livto design and make their own fantastic jewellery (we will share more info about these great ladies in another blog) and Tropic Skincare, a natural, cruelty free, vegan skincare and makeup range.
Tasha and I were straight in and enjoyed wandering the rails with our complimentary glass of prosecco. There was a fab selection from; knitwear to denim and shirts to skirts. I spotted a few great items but Tasha caved and bought a fantastic silver sequin mini skirt! That was after about 15 mins of us both justifying it by imagining what we could wear it with.
Also at the sale were a great selection of bags, I loved a Michael Kors tote, and shoes, sooooo many shoes
All in all it was a great experience and surprisingly not all the items were high end designer. There were a few great Zara, Karen Millen and high end high street items. There literally was something for all tastes and budgets.
We are looking forward to keeping in touch with the ladies and being involved in their future events.
